Sharp abdominal pain is not a common chronic IBS symptom, but those who have pain predominate IBS may experience it chronically. Abdominal pain is not considered the same as cramping. Usually this abdominal pain is a sharp piercing, jabbing or prickly pain. Those who do not have pain predominate IBS may still experience these types of abdominal pains from time to time.
IBS pain may be helped with mint, fennel, antispasmodic medication, antidepressants or medical marijuana.
